Our Values – Detailed Listing

The following is a detailed list of our values with accompanying scripture references.

1.      A Personal Relationship with God – Exodus 33:12-23, Psalm 27:8, John 10:14-15, John 14:21, John 17:3, Philippians 3:7-11

Being a Christian is not just knowing about God; it is knowing Him in a real and personal way.  God is a person to be known, loved, glorified, and obeyed.  We have a relationship with the Living God and growing in that relationship is the highest priority of our lives.

2.      A Passionate Relationship with Jesus Christ – Mark 12:29-31, John 14:15, Revelation 2:4-5

We love Jesus Christ with all of our hearts, souls, minds and strength!  The truth of the incarnation is too wonderful for us; that the God of Universe, the Creator and Sustainer of all, would take off His glory and come to this earth to die for His rebellious creation is a truth that amazes us and causes us to love Him more and more.  He is everything to us; He is our first love, our greatest joy, the pursuit of our lives.

3.      The Bible  – God’s Word – Psalm 19:7-10, Psalm 119, Proverbs 30:5, John 17:17,  2 Timothy 3:15-16, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 1:20-21

All that we teach and practice is based on the perfect Word of God, the Bible.  The Bible is our perfect source for right belief and behavior.  We preach and teach the Bible literally and under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.  The Word of God is alive and it changes our lives from the inside out.

4.      Worship – Psalm 22:3, Psalm 95:1-7, Malachi 3:8-12, Romans 12:1, 1 Cor 6:19-20, 2 Corinthians 8 and 9

  • Worship with A Surrendered Life – Romans 12:1, 1 Cor 6:19-20
Christians are purchased and owned by the Blood of Jesus Christ.  In view of God’s great mercy and grace the only reasonable way to worship Him is by offering our entire lives to Him withholding nothing.
  • Worship through Singing and Music – Psalm 22:3, Psalm 95:1-7
We believe that worship through music can be powerful and life changing.  Worship is a time to express our love for God to God.  God lives in the praises of His people and in the manifest presence of God lives are changed.  Worship is to God and for God because He is worthy!
  • Worship through Giving – Malachi 3:8-12, 2 Corinthians 8 and 9
All we have comes from God, our time, talents, treasure, and testimony.  Recognizing this, and the fact that our God is a giving God, we should joyfully give back to Him as He has prescribed in His Word.

5.      Prayer – Jeremiah 29:12-14, Jeremiah 33:3,  Matthew 18:19-20, Isaiah 58:9, Matthew 17:20-21, John 14:12-14, John 15:7-9, Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Prayer must always be a central focus of the church.  Prayer is communication with God; it is where we are transformed and empowered to live lives that please our God.  Prayer moves the heart of our loving God who acts on our behalf.  Our effectiveness as individuals and as a church in advancing the Kingdom of God is directly related to our diligence in prayer.

6.      Fellowship

  • Fellowship with God – Philippians 2:1, Philippians 3:10, 1 Corinthians 1:9, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 John 1:3
We have fellowship with God through prayer, worship, giving, suffering, and communion.  Scripture teaches that we have a relationship with God and the relationship grows through fellowship with God just as it does with any person.
  • Fellowship with Believers – Acts 2:42, Hebrews 3:13, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 John 1:3, 7,
We believe that like the New Testament church, fellowship is not optional but it is one of the key practices of a healthy and growing church.  In fellowship we are encouraged, challenged, corrected, and protected.

7.      Evangelism – Matthew 5:16, Matthew 28:18-20

Reaching those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is our primary reason for being on this earth.  It is the responsibility of every believer in Jesus Christ to share their faith and use their gifts, abilities, and resources to shine forth Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.

8.      Reconciliation – Luke 17:3-4, 2 Corinthians 5:11-21, Ephesians 4:32

We have been reconciled to the Father through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ and we have been given the ministry of reconciliation.  We should be quick to forgive, slow to become angry, and constantly modeling the gracious and merciful nature of our Great God.  There is only one race, we all descended from Adam.  There are two kinds of people in the world; those who are saved and those who are not.

9.      Every Individual – Psalm 139:12-26, Matthew 10:30, Ephesians 2:10,

Every person, adults and children, single and married, is important to Jesus Christ and is an important member of the Body of Christ.

10.  Singles – 1 Corinthians 7:32-35

We believe that being single is a blessing and an opportunity.  The Scriptures are clear that when a person is single they can be “one track minded” towards God and His purposes.  While single, you can make a tremendous impact for the Lord with you time and talents.

11.  Family – Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis: 2:24, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalm 102:18, 78:6, Isaiah 44:1-5, Matthew 19:3-9

The family was created by God as a vehicle for evangelizing the next generation; it is the first “small group” created by God; the first covenant instituted by God; and it is the building block of the church and society.  Family is, and has always been, God’s primary means for passing faith in the God of the Bible from generation to generation.  We believe that the church’s function is to do all it can to equip and encourage families to live godly, shine for Christ, and bring glory and honor to our Savior.

12.  Marriage – Genesis 2:18-25, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – 9, Malachi 2:14-15–14, Ephesians 5:23–23, Hebrews 13:4

Marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman for a life time.  Christian marriages are intended by God to demonstrate to the world what Christ’s relationship with the church is like.  Husbands and wives should be best friends, should work together to advance God’s Kingdom, and should be interdependent.  The world needs hope for marriage and it is the church alone that can offer that hope.

13.  Children – Genesis 1:28, Genesis 9:1, Genesis 33:5, Deuteronomy 6:4–9, Psalm 127:3–5, Proverbs 17:6, Malachi 2:15, Matthew 19:13–15

We believe that children are a blessing, a reward, a heritage, from the Lord (they are not an expense).  God has told us to “be fruitful and multiply”.  The purpose is to provide Him with “godly offspring” to live lives of love and obedience towards God and to reach the next generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
