Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..."
Matthew 19:14
Ministry to preschool age children is available during the Sunday Worship Service. Preschool age children are released to their respective classes after Praise and WorshipThere are a number of purposes for preschool ministry…
1. Opportunities for Members of the Church Body to Serve God
Ministry to preschoolers provides member of the church body the opportunity to serve God in a very important and life impacting way. This ministry is an opportunity for “greatness” in the eyes of our great God and results in the greatest of joys, the rewards of our God.
“Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant” Matthew 20:26
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-25
2. Importance of Ministering to the Children
Ministering to preschoolers is just as important as any other ministry in the church. The scriptures point out many truths about the importance of caring for and loving children.
“He called a little child and had him stand among them. And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:2-5
It is very important for children to have the right “feeling” about church. Preschool teachers have the privilege of helping to form a child’s view of church and what Christian’s are like.
3. To Help Form Jesus into Their Character
Christian and secular psychologists agree that a child’s basic character is formed in the first 5 to 7 years of life. We have the opportunity and honor of helping to form Jesus into a child’s character.
Timothy learned about Jesus from him mother and grandmother as a young child and this knowledge led to his coming to faith in Jesus Christ.
“… and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15
4. To Provide Parents with the Opportunity to Receive Ministry
In addition to ministering to the children, preschool ministry also provides parents with the opportunity for ministry.
When parents feel confident about dropping off their child, when they know that their child is going to be loved on, cared for, and ministered to, they can go to church and give their full attention to what God wants to do in their lives.
This makes PRESCHOOL ministry doubly fruitful. You not only minister to the children but to the parents as well.
